BRAZIL - The Land of Samba Music, Football and Carnival

Sprawled across half of South America and sharing borders with no less than 10 different countries lies Brazil, the world's fifth largest country, both in size and population. A country that for the last 500 years has captivated travellers from across the globe. A land that according to locals was “blessed by God” for its natural beauty.

Brazil is a country that proudly boasts over 7000km of picturesque coastline jam-packed with powdery white-sand beaches and lined with swathes of palm trees that front a deep blue Atlantic Ocean. Dotting this coastline you can find a myriad of tropical islands, music-filled metropolises and enchanting colonial towns.

Copacabana and Ipanema are two of the most famous and praised beaches along the coast, both belonging to Rio de Janeiro, one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world. In Rio you can also find the Corcovado mountain and world famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, which is now one of the new wonders of the world. The city is also famous for its annual carnival where no less than two million people line the streets to celebrate into the early hours to the sound of the Samba beats.

Heading inland from the coast, Brazil also offers you dazzling sights of a different flavor: majestic waterfalls, red-rock canyons, and crystal-clear rivers are all just a small part of the country's natural beauty. Some of the world’s most exciting cities also lie on the inside of Brazil’s borders, so travellers need not only go to the Rio to experience the music, dance and revelry.

The larger and more famous inland attractions are the Amazon Rainforest and the Pantanal tropical wetlands, the pair hosting some of the greatest biodiversity on the planet. Wildlife-watching is simply breathtaking here, as is the opportunity for adventure, though you don't need to venture into the jungle to find it. Kayaking, rafting, trekking, snorkeling and surfing are just a few ways to spend a sun-drenched afternoon in almost any part of the country.

Apart from all the interesting places to visit, Brazil is also the land of Sports, especially soccer. The country is due to host the next World Cup and the Summer Olympics, so the fever is already simmering. The nation's food is also delicious, don't leave without trying feijoada (a stew of beans with pork and rice, considered the national dish), or sipping a cool fresh Caipirinha (Brazil's national cocktail). People interested in history can also discover plenty of interesting places dating from colonial times until now. However the most important thing in Brazil is their people, who are young at heart, vibrant and full of the joys of life and who always extend a warm welcome to their guests.

Given the country’s innumerable charms, the only drawback to travelling in Brazil is: you simply won’t want to leave!
